This afternoon we recalled the three articles on the CBC Kids News website. if you haven't watched/ read these yet, please do so in order to complete the short writing assignment. 

1. PPT: Covid 19 Vaccines

• Choose 6 words from these short videos/ articles that are new to you. Write them in your writing NB with a definition.

• Write your reflection on the 3 articles. This could be what you think about the topic, or about Covid-19 in Canada, in Taiwan, vaccines in Taiwan, or anything related.It should be a paragraph so at lest 5 sentences. It could also just be a short summary of the main points.

• You can take pictures of your writing and send it to me by email, daniel@hmps.tp.edu.tw

• Also, please look over the CBC kids news article to share in Friday's period 4 class at 11:05.

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing alright spending all this time at home. My family seemed to get used to our constant indoor life a little yesterday. On Friday night, we started playing "Active Arcade" together in our living room. It is a smartphone APP, but you can connect to your living room TV with an hdml cable. It uses AR technology for some basic, but fun, exercise based activities and competitions. I really recommend it! https://apps.apple.com/tw/app/active-arcade/id1553158383

This next week will bring some changes with class. I have a simple microphone and webcam now, so the Webex classes should be functional. I really hope so! Also, I'd like to start a Google Classroom for sharing files and homework. I have sent an invitation to Chienda, Channing, and Jimmy 604, but others I can't send your invitation (you haven't sent me email with HW yet) without a gmail email address. After this morning's 7:50 class-

It was a little better, but still hard to do anything meaningful in a class sort of way. Maybe I will need to adjust what we do with the time.

1. We talked about the Reading Strategy: Text Structure and saw an example from the Reading Street SB.

2. For HW today: I'd like you to look at RWN p403. It is a Time Line, which is a type of graphic feature used in expository texts. Read the top of the page and try to answer the questions in complete sentences.

3. This afternoon we will try another live class and attempt to do RWN p399 and 406 together. Please prepare your RWN and a pencil or pen for class. See you at 1:40!

 ***Notice about next Week***

Dear Students and Parents,

As you have likely heard by now, the school has made the decision to change our online learning schedule. Starting Monday, May 24th, students will have their typical, in-person schedule of classes, but they will complete those classes online. 

The school has asked English teachers to continue to post pre-recorded lessons after this change is made, so many of my lessons will remain pre-recorded. However, I will add 3 live WebEx lessons to my A2 classes, and two live sessions for my Wednesday homeroom classes next week. 

Our first live lesson on WebEx will be on Monday, 5/24 at 12:50pm. This first live lesson will also serve as our test session to see if anyone has any problems connecting. If anyone does have any problems connecting, I will do everything I can to help them connect before our second live lesson later in the week.

Sometimes there will be some materials to prepare before the live sessions and I will let you know ahead of time so that everyone has the opportunity to be ready. I am still planning my lessons, so I can't inform you yet.
